The eighth-generation Dodge Charger is a two-door or four-door muscle car sold in two forms. The R/T and Scat Pack, plus their Plus versions, use a 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six called SIXPACK, while the Daytona Scat Pack Plus is a battery-electric car rated at up to 670 horsepower. All-wheel drive is standard on every trim, and a hidden hatch gives the car a usable cargo area.
The Northeast take
The Charger is not the obvious Northeast pick, but standard all-wheel drive makes it more livable than a muscle car should be. Every trim has AWD, and the SIXPACK models add an on-demand rear-drive mode. Dodge lists a Wet/Snow drive mode, and the R/T starts at $49,995 with 420 hp. The catch is clearance: 5.5 inches, which suits plowed roads and not unplowed ones. On the New Jersey Turnpike or the Long Island Expressway, 17/26 mpg for the R/T is acceptable for a car with this much power. A heated steering wheel arrives with the $1,495 Driver Convenience Group on the R/T. The all-electric Daytona Scat Pack Plus, at $77,490, adds up to 267 miles of range and a built-in NACS charging port.
The Charger comes with the SIXPACK twin-turbo inline-six in the R/T, Scat Pack and their Plus versions, or as the all-electric Daytona Scat Pack Plus. All five trims share the same body, offered as a two-door or a four-door.
The R/T's 420-horsepower six replaces the old 5.7-liter HEMI and adds 50 horsepower. Dodge says it is the most standard horsepower of any muscle car. The Scat Pack uses a high-output version with 550 horsepower and up to 30 psi of boost.
The Daytona Scat Pack Plus is rated at 630 horsepower, rising to 670 with the PowerShot boost, and reaches 60 mph in 3.3 seconds. Dodge's spec sheet for the Daytona Scat Pack lists a 20 to 80 percent charge in about 27 minutes on a 350 kW fast charger.
A hidden hatch opens to roughly 22 cubic feet of cargo space with the seats up and up to 38 cubic feet with them folded. That is a lot of room for a car this sporty, and the four-door has a little more than the two-door.
Every Charger has all-wheel drive. The SIXPACK models add an on-demand rear-drive mode at the push of a button, and Wet/Snow is a standard drive mode on the R/T, so the car is less of a fair-weather proposition than older muscle cars.
The 2027 list adds Petrol Blue seats, new stripe kits and a Satin Black hood. Packages include Blacktop and Carbon & Suede, and the Daytona can add a Track Package with 16-inch Brembo rotors and adaptive damping.

More easily than past Chargers. All-wheel drive is standard on every 2027 trim and the car has a Wet/Snow drive mode. Real limits remain: 5.5 inches of ground clearance and, on the powerful versions, wide performance tires that do poorly in snow. Fit proper winter tires, keep the car out of deep snow, and it can work as a year-round daily.
Only with a charging plan. The Daytona has a 100.5-kWh battery, 93.9 kWh usable, and an 11 kW onboard charger, so a rough estimate is about eight and a half hours from empty on a charger delivering that full 11 kW. A native NACS port and up to 183 kW peak charging help on road trips, with 20 to 80 percent in 27 minutes on a 350 kW charger. Without overnight charging, a gas SIXPACK model is simpler.
Gas. SIXPACK is the name of the 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six that powers the Charger R/T (420 hp) and Scat Pack (550 hp), including their Plus versions. The electric car is the Charger Daytona Scat Pack Plus, which has its own powertrain and price.
