The Dodge Durango is a midsize three-row SUV that uses a V8 in every 2027 trim; the V6 is no longer offered. It has standard all-wheel drive, seating for up to seven and a tow rating of up to 8,700 pounds. Buyers choose between the 360-horsepower GT AWD HEMI V8 trims, the 475-horsepower R/T 392 trims and the 710-horsepower supercharged SRT Hellcat.
The Northeast take
Every 2027 Durango has a V8 and all-wheel drive, which makes it a natural fit for snow-belt towns around Syracuse, Erie and the Poconos, and a harder sell for anyone counting fuel dollars. The GT AWD HEMI V8 starts at $43,875 with 360 hp and is rated 14/22/17 mpg. The 24.6-gallon tank times the 22 mpg highway rating gives a rough estimate of about 540 highway miles. Dodge offers a Snow drive mode, and ground clearance runs 7.8 to 8.0 inches. Towing is 7,200 pounds standard and 8,700 with the Tow 'n Go package, which Dodge lists at $6,295 on the GT trims. At about 201 inches long and 72.1 inches tall, it is large for older garages and city parking.
The GT AWD HEMI V8 trims use a 5.7-liter V8 with 360 horsepower. Above them, the R/T 392 trims get a 6.4-liter V8 with 475 horsepower and the SRT Hellcat gets a supercharged 6.2-liter with 710. All use an eight-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive.
The GT AWD HEMI V8 trims tow 7,200 pounds as standard, and the Tow 'n Go package, the R/T 392 trims or the SRT Hellcat raise that to 8,700 pounds. Dodge calls that figure best in class for a three-row SUV.
Most trims seat seven, with a second-row bench or optional captain's chairs. The SRT Hellcat is a five-seater as standard, and a six-passenger layout is available on some trims. Cargo space measures 17.2 cubic feet behind the third row, 43.3 behind the second and 85.1 with both folded.
Dodge quotes 0-60 mph in 6.2 seconds for the GT AWD HEMI V8, 4.4 seconds for the R/T 392, and 3.5 seconds for the SRT Hellcat. The R/T 392 and Hellcat add Brembo brakes and adaptive Bilstein suspension.
The Hellcat Jailbreak package opens up seven wheel choices, seven colors, five seat colors and several badge and caliper finishes. Lower trims can add stripe kits, Blacktop packages and the new Brass Monkey wheels.
Every Durango sends power to all four wheels. The GT AWD HEMI V8 trims offer Auto, Sport, Tow and Snow drive modes, while the R/T 392 and Hellcat add Track and Custom modes and a performance-tuned AWD system.

Yes. All-wheel drive is standard on every 2027 Durango, from the $43,875 GT AWD HEMI V8 to the SRT Hellcat. You do not pay extra for it, and you do not have to hunt for a specific trim. The GT trims offer Auto, Sport, Tow and Snow drive modes, so the system is tuned for winter as well as trailers.
More than a V6 or hybrid would. The GT HEMI is rated 14 city, 22 highway and 17 combined, the R/T 392 gets 13/19/15 and the Hellcat 12/17/13. Stop-and-go traffic on the Cross Bronx or the Schuylkill is the worst case. If you commute 60 or more miles a day, price the fuel against a Grand Cherokee or Cherokee before choosing the Durango.
