Midsize work van returns under $40K
Starting MSRP*$37,400

The 2027 Ram ProMaster City is an all-new midsize commercial van that fits under 80 inches, so it clears most garages. It is available as a cargo van or a five- or eight-passenger wagon, with a turbocharged four-cylinder and front-wheel drive. Ram is pitching it at small businesses, couriers and trades that do not need a full-size ProMaster.
The Northeast take
The ProMaster City is the right size for courier routes, plumbers and caterers working Manhattan, Boston and Philadelphia. The 2027 model is all new and starts at $37,400 for the Tradesman Cargo, with $2,595 destination making it $39,995 delivered. Ram says it stands just under 77 inches tall and turns in just over 42 feet, and the 129-inch wheelbase keeps overall length manageable. Inside, the 111-inch load floor holds two standard pallets, and the cargo volume tops 167 cubic feet. Payload is targeted at 2,200 pounds, and towing about 2,000 with the optional hitch. The 1.6-liter turbo four makes 166 hp, drives the front wheels only and uses an 18.5-gallon tank. Figures are preliminary, and Ram says vehicles reach dealers in early 2027.

Standard equipment includes a 10-inch digital gauge cluster, a 10-inch touchscreen with navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated front seats and a digital rearview mirror. The SLT adds front parking sensors and wireless charging.

Often, because it is just under 77 inches tall. Ram calls it the only Class 2 commercial van below 80 inches, and that clears many residential garages and some parking structures. Garage clearances vary a lot in Manhattan and Boston, so check the posted height of the specific garage. Roof racks and equipment will add to that height.
Choose by payload and volume. The City carries a targeted 2,200 pounds in more than 167 cubic feet, while the full-size ProMaster carries up to 4,750 pounds and 524 cubic feet. If your jobs fit in the smaller van and you park on city streets or in garages, the City is easier. If you carry sheet goods, pipe or pallets daily, go bigger.
